Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts

The luxury of 2 weeks in gorgeous coastal Maine with nothing to do but make things out of clay in a giant old barn, eat amazing food, and commune with pottery nerds. Gas firing, soda firing, raku, high fire clay, low fire terra-cotta dug out of the soil out back… This is my version of heaven.

Plus, I got to hang out with my pottery idol Ben Medansky who not only showed me how to throw bigger, taller things on the wheel, but how to play Wolves and Villagers. That’s life-changing stuff.

My greatest accomplishment of the residency was getting this group of mostly 20 and 30 somethings (I was the old fart) to watch Big Business, the funniest movie of the 80’s.

I’m already looking forward to my next art camp adventure... Haystack is on the shortlist for next summer!
