In 1986 I accosted Aretha Franklin when I worked at the Somerset Mall in Michigan. My friend worked at the jewelers a few doors down and she tipped me off that she was there picking up diamonds and gold and stuff. I asked for an autograph and she signed it “Best, Ree”. I still have it.

I’ve drawn my favorite iconic ladies of new wave, pop, rock, and soul. Each one is digitally printed on toothy art paper stock and I hand-embellish every print with gold leaf. No two are exactly the same.
